Melbourne City Ballet, in 2019, Brings to the stage a new ballet choreographed by Artistic Director Michael Pappalardo. This traditional Shakespearian tale of 2 young sisters, one who is charming and delightful and the other quite disagreeable, is transformed into a modern day adaption with a new score performed by a 4 piece band.

Melbourne City Ballet’s production of the Taming of the Shrew is a colourful and playful work, perfect for not only ballet lovers but for anyone who loves a little Jazz and some romantic comedy. With colourful costumes and 30’s inspired sets, this ballet is sure to be a colourful and playful rendition on this story.

Would you like to be a part of Melbourne City Ballet's upcoming production of Taming of the shrew?

Melbourne City Ballet will provide opportunities for young dancers seeking to experience being a part of a live ballet production.

In 2018, young dancers across the country will have the opportunity to register to be a part of the magic of this wonderful production, representing their communities onstage with the company.

There are various roles that need to be filled for this production. Melbourne City Ballet will be predominately looking for dancers, both boys and girls, aged between 8 and 18 years old.  Basic ballet skills and knowledge are required. 

Dancers will learn the choreography within the workshop. Those who are successful will be notified at the end of the workshop and will be given more detailed information about the show. 

Auditions will include participation in our community workshops which are $10 per head.
