The Nutcracker

It WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS...

On Christmas Eve, a little girl named Clara falls asleep after a party at her home and dreams herself, or does she? into a fantastic world where toys become larger than life. Her beloved Nutcracker comes to life and defends her from the Mouse King, then is turned into a Prince after Clara saves his life.

Expect a joyous explosion of colour as Melbourne City Ballet finish off 2019 by bringing to life this audience favourite across Victoria and South Australia!

This will be Melbourne City Ballet's first tour of South Australia and first presentation of this classical ballet! Come join us for a new Christmas tradition for the whole family.

Would you like to be a part of Melbourne City Ballet's upcoming production of THE NUTCRACKER?

Melbourne City Ballet will provide opportunities for young dancers seeking to experience being a part of a live ballet production.

In 2018, young dancers across the country will have the opportunity to register to be a part of the magic of this wonderful production, representing their communities onstage with the company.

There are various roles that need to be filled for this production. Melbourne City Ballet will be predominately looking for dancers, both boys and girls, aged between 8 and 18 years old.  Basic ballet skills and knowledge are required.

Dancers will learn the choreography within the workshop. Those who are successful will be notified at the end of the workshop and will be given more detailed information about the show.

Auditions will include participation in our community workshops which are $10 per head.
